What does this mean for Holt? Our Spring recreational soccer program continues pretty much as is. This Spring, TUSA will be running our soccer program. Plans are being finalized to expand our offerings this Fall -- from regional recreational tournaments to Academy, Challenge and Classic offerings at Holt field -- our partnership will bring many new opportunities for the youth of Northern Durham. Look for TUSA competitive level program tryouts this Spring, in addition to the great recreational offering.
SPRING AGE GROUPS: We play Micro (3 and 4 year old coed),
U6 Coed, and separate boys' and girls' divisions for U8, U10, U12 and U14, and
U18 coed. Age Groups are determined by the child's age as of July 31, 2011 (no
change from Fall soccer - if you played Fall Soccer, your age group will NOT
change). See chart at right.
TEAM SELECTION / EVALUATION: Holt soccer is recreational - all those who register are placed on teams. We create teams through an evaluation process to try to create balanced teams, but ALL children make teams - there are no cuts. On Saturday March 10, all participants attended evaluations and coaches drafted teams with an eye to creating balance and relative competitive equality. Following evaluations, your coach contacts you with your practice day and time.
PRACTICE/GAME DAYS: We begin the season with two practices per week, one on a weekday and one on a weekend (Sat). When games begin, the weekend practice is replaced with a game or two. Your coach will determine the practice day and games are mostly on Saturdays, with occasional Friday nights or Sundays or other in the case of weather makeups.

Holt Soccer is Recreational but Competitive.
We play a regional semi-travel 10-game
schedule.
Holt teams compete within the Durham County Youth Soccer League, comprised of teams from Northern Junior Athletic Association (NJAA) and Oak Grove Athletic Association (OGAA). We play a 10 game scheudule with half as Home games at our Holt Field and the other five as away games at NJAA and OGAA.
We keep score and compete, but in the Spring we play developmentally and do not keep league standings. There is no season-ending tournament in the Spring. All U6 players receive participation trophies but we do not have season championship trophies in the Spring.
